I was privileged to participate to the Cameroon Abitration week, that was held from the 06th to 10th of October 2024, organized by the Nkafu Arbitration Service #NAS, together with The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), at the Sawa Hotel in Douala, Cameroon

My main objective was both professional and personal development and I was not disappointed at all. I was privileged to meet interesting and challenging people new mates and old ones, who were able to genuinely open up to me, thereby opening me up, intellectually and spiritually to a broader perspective of arbitration in particular and law in general

Discussions at the Cameroon Arbitration Week rotated around; harmonizing Maritime and commercial arbitration standards, the role of mediation in Maritime and commodity disputes, ESG in Maritime arbitration and the future of Maritime arbitration in Africa. Not forgetting our big debate over the topic; should mediation be mandatory before arbitration in Maritime and commodity disputes?

The CAW ended with the grand reception given by the Commercial Bar Association (COMBAR), where more of learning was done in an informal way, together with networking and motivations. I am grateful to have been part of this intellectual gathering, and I feel great gratitude towards Mr. Julius Nkafu and his team for organizing such an event

I am excited to be able to apply all what I have learned during this week and excited to see how far this learning can bring me because information/knowledge is power.
